A Word from the Author
After spending many years travelling throughout the Middle East in the 1980’s I wanted to set a novel in this turbulent area. As the countries I knew intimately have changed out of all recognition, especially Syria, Lebanon and Yemen, I decided to set the novel in the Middle East of the past as I knew it.
