A Word from the Author

The Dragonfire series didn’t start out to be a thriller. I intended it to be more of a procedural, with a mystery layered in. But the elements of the story made it so that the story couldn’t be anything but a thriller. Sometimes our characters do things that surprise us, and sometimes a book wants to be something different, too. All I could do was listen and go with it.

So I ended up with a science fiction spy thriller series. I have to admit, it’s very exciting to write. There are dinosaur-like people, space pirates, a planet whose entire economy is based on healthcare, and so much more. In fact, I hope to write a spin-off series to explore some of the more unusual species more closely. There are always more ideas than time, but when readers contact me to tell me how much they enjoyed my book, it pushes me to get more of the story out there. After all, readers are critical to the entire writing process because without them, the characters don’t get a chance to truly live.

I always feel a kinship with my readers, because I know that like me, they live for the next great story that excites and inspires them.
