A Word from the Author

Hegira is the first book of The Brin Archives trilogy. The series follows several generations of Brin, an alien species with a hint of avian evolutionary history, through their adventures in time travel, political intrigue, interstellar war, prevention of genocide, and even a little romance. Something for everyone.

Hegira begins with the discovery of a derelict spaceship where the Skae, another alien race, find a sample of DNA which they clone and raise to a being they name Karm. The Skae implant Karm with an advanced biocomputer and send him back in time to save his species, the Brin, who had all perished when their sun exploded. Karm must enlist others to aid in his quest, raise a financial empire to finance his plans. Along the way, he must thwart the plans of the ruling monarch and leader of the planet’s largest religion who want to take over Karm’s rescue mission to save themselves.
