When you can’t hear
death comes silently.

Scotland Yard detective Valerie Crowther is assigned to investigate the murder of a student at a university for the Deaf in London, England. The murder investigation coincides with a deadly flu virus outbreak, resulting in the university being quarantined from the outside world.

When more Deaf students are murdered, it becomes clear there is a serial killer operating within the sealed-off university. A chilling cat-and-mouse game evolves as the unknown killer targets Valerie and the virus claims more lives.

A stunning, claustrophobic, “whodunit” murder mystery, Silent Fear (A novel inspired by true crimes) is the eighth novel by father-and-son writing team Lance & James Morcan. Included is a commentary by Deaf filmmaker Brent Macpherson on the unique aspects of Deaf culture the story covers. Together, the Morcans and Macpherson are currently developing a feature film adaptation of Silent Fear.

A decade in the making, it was written under the guidance of leading deaf filmmaker Brent Macpherson whose commentary on the unique aspects of deaf culture the story covers appears at the end of the book. Together, the Morcans and Macpherson are developing a feature film adaptation of Silent Fear.

Know More

Young Geologist, Harry Bentham is head-hunted by an unscrupulous mining firm who will stop at nothing to get what they want. Events gradually unfold which lead Harry to question the ethics of the company for whom he is working and their methods in obtaining mining licenses. His actions put him and those around him in grave danger as the consequences of those actions descend rapidly into a question of survival.

The Valley of the Serpent is another sweeping thriller by Alan Reynolds, taking the reader on a roller-coaster journey through the Derbyshire Peak District in the UK, through Switzerland, France and The Northern Territories of Australia.

A Word from the Author

Author Alan Reynolds

Valley of the Serpent is the seventh book by award-winning author, Alan Reynolds to be published by Fisher King. The original concept changed as I did more research from a basic adventure novel into a sweeping tale of under-hand dealings in the world of Uranium mining. Featuring Harry Bentham, a young geologist, the first two chapters deal with a near-death experience for him whilst on a field-trip in Derbyshire which shapes his life. He eventually gets head-hunted by an unscrupulous international mining company and the story follows his journey from its headquarters in Switzerland to the Northern Territories of Australia where his eyes are opened by a series of events that threatens his life. I found the research fascinating, learning about rock formations and the ecological issues caused by some mining industries – very relevant in today’s world of fracking. The book is now available and already has 4 five star reviews.

Walking to Babylon is a Crime Thriller by Christopher Davis.

Blurb

Walking to Babylon is a dark, gritty tale of two transplanted New Jersey boys who grow up together in the desert city of Las Vegas, busting balls for the old man. Sammy Soriano tells us the story as he walks away from a burning car where the body of his lifelong pal, Tommy Two-Guns Viglierchio had been left, along with those of three Mexican nationals that had tried to muscle in on the action. Viglierchio has been losing his battle with cancer for some time and Soriano knew it. There was nothing that he could do to help his friend other than be there for him.

Walking to Babylon first appeared in the British Multiple Myeloma Charity Anthology, Paladins, as the short story—Low and Outside.
Sammy Soriano tells his story over a couple of beers at a farm team baseball game in Las Vegas, where the story takes place.
His lifelong pal—Tommy Two-Guns Viglierchio—had cancer and he knew it. There just wasn’t anything that he could do other than be there for him. The story drew its name from a lousy pitch that you just had to stand and watch go by.
While waiting for the anthology to print, I decided that Soriano had more of a story to tell than 7700 words could and Walking to Babylon came to be, finding a home with Solstice Publishing. In the novel version we get to look a little deeper into the lives of those riding roughshod over the Las Vegas underbelly.
If you enjoy bright lights and the casino nightlife, why not take a walk with Sammy in this short novel length story of dope and crime and shallow graves in the desert?
