It’s just a routine case at the FBI’s Salt Lake City offices. The young woman’s boyfriend is missing, possibly dead. Agent Karen Adams thinks he’s probably just out with another woman—but then the Royal Canadian Mounted Police come calling. Why would they care about a wayward addict cheating on his girlfriend in Utah? Soon, Karen is involved in a case like nothing she’s ever seen, navigating through an international criminal network of drugs, sex trafficking, murder, and the black market trade of priceless archaeological relics. Her new partner Marcus “Playboy” McCoy—handsome, charming, and almost unbearably crass—is equal parts help and hindrance as she navigates a seamy underworld in the Utah desert. But she also finds assistance from some unusual sources: a graduate student in archaeology, a dissatisfied sister-wife from a polygamous commune, and an undercover Canadian Mountie. Together they become entangled in the web of international crime and the only way out is to find the most priceless artifact of all: the legendary Keresa Headdress.

A Word from the Author

author-larry-d-shackelford-pictureFBI Special Agent Karen Adams career with the FBI has been tenuous at best. Unfortunately, she believes her career has taken an even more undesirable direction when a young, distraught woman visits her Salt Lake City office. The woman’s boyfriend is nowhere to be found, and Karen’s instincts tell her there is more to the story. Her intuition is soon confirmed when she is contacted by an officer with the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP). Why would the RCMP care about the young woman and her addict boyfriend? Unwittingly, Karen is thrust into a case like she has never seen; a criminal network of drugs, sex trafficking, murder, and the black market trade of priceless, irreplaceable archaeological artifacts. To complicate the investigation, she is partnered with Marcus McCoy, a handsome, charming, and unbearably crass agent from the Department of the Interior, to help her navigate the seamy underworld in the Utah desert. Thankfully, she is assisted by Derek, a graduate student in archeology, a disgruntled sister-wife from a polygamous commune and an undercover Canadian Mountie. Together, they become entangled in a web of international crime they could have never imagined. Karen is convinced that the only way to solve the investigation is to find the most priceless artifact of all: the legendary Keresa Headdress. “The Keresa Headdress is a thrilling combination of adventure, a murder mystery, a treasure hunt, and romance.” Amazon.com reviewer.

Know More

There is no pain like the loss of a child. When that pain can be directed at one group, in the hands of a dark and brilliant zealot, there are no prisoners and no survivors–only a wake of destruction and damnation.

This is the story of one such man, the woman who loves him, the detective who hates him, and the country girl who understands him far too well. Who will come out on top as they clash in the dark and dangerous world of ultra-wealthy scions, mob bosses, and corrupt politicians?

Disclaimer: This is a fast paced, dark, brutal story that may trigger those who have experienced abuse, rape, or violence. If you have … know there are people who care and want to stand by you. If you need help, please see the Appendix for helpful resources.

A Word from the Author

Author Michael BossoOn the surface, FBoM is a story of vengeance and redemption. If you delve deeper into the story you realize it’s much more. The lives that have been forever changed due to a moments lack of humanity. The women and families that have been affected by the brutality of a terrifying large percentage of men and how some have chosen to deal with the aftermath.
It is my hope that the story opens a dialogue between fathers and sons, mothers and daughters, and the understanding that rape is rape in its many different forms. The victims are faultless and at times the perpetrators aren’t even aware they have done wrong. Society has allowed a system that continues to allow males to act irresponsibly, and in many cases cruelly, without regard to what happens to their victims afterwards. It’s time to make them understand… It’s time for the Foundation for the Betterment Of Man to make them pay…

Our Review

I couldn’t put this book down, I wanted to know what was going to happen next and how the characters would evolve and overcome what was thrown at them. The characters are well rounded and complex having their good and bad sides, overcoming trauma is never easy- be prepared for very strong emotions. The book approaches a very actual problem and it is a very good tool to bring attention to it. As more people get conscious about the issue the closer we will get to an eventual solution. Thank you very much Mr. Bosso for the copy provided.

Know More

Roisin has had enough. After the recession hit Spain, her husband, Javier, has fallen into an abyss of depression and is threatening to drag her down with him. To save them both, she leaves Spain and moves back to Ireland. She wants to gain control of her life, make a new start and finally follow her own dreams. With a mixture of sadness and anticipation, she moves back to Ireland, rents a house by the sea, and has a fortuitous meeting with Maggie who runs a craft boutique. At first everything runs smoothly. Too good to be true? After perfect beginnings where she meets some of the helpful and colourful characters who live there, things begin to get complicated. The first cracks appear on the façade. Why is her old neighbour, Mrs. Walsh, being threatened? What is she afraid of? And why are people suspicious of Maggie, her new friend and boutique owner?

A Word from the Author

Author Liz Doran PictureThe theme of Where She Belongs is one of empowerment, especially of women. It’s about relationships, real-life issues, starting over, overcoming obstacles, love and all that entails. But it’s also about human nature, foibles, attraction and following one’s dreams. The themes are wrapped up in an adventure where the main character, Roisin, follows her dream and goes to live by the sea in Ireland. How will she survive, will she get a job? Will she be able to afford to live there, and will she be able to survive on her own? Then it’s about the unexpected, about making decisions and the realisation that everyone is facing some sort of conflict. But more than anything else, it’s about belonging and finding one’s place.
What inspired me to write this novel? I left my home country of Ireland in my early twenties and have lived in the U.S.A. and Germany for most of my adult life. It was exciting getting to know new cultures and people and constantly reinventing myself, being flexible and learning a new language. But I often wondered what it would be like to return to live in Ireland, by the sea. By writing this novel, I feel as if I’ve actually done it. As odd as it sounds, I feel as if part of me is now there, with all the characters and places I invented. I must go and visit them soon and see what they’re up to.
