A Word from the Author
Piper is an equine insurance agent longing for something just beyond her grasp. She struggles with love, relationships, odd scents that brings with them odd bits of memories she dismisses as her imagination. It isn’t until a tragic event that Piper learns that everything she believes is someone else’s desperate lies. After a teary confession from her elderly father Piper begins a journey of self discovery, family secrets, a question of faith and the search for the one man who can help her understand why she must be Piper, once and again.
People often ask how I came to write such a story! Quite honestly a woman I’d never met suggested I was in the process of writing a book. When I told her that I was not, she insisted she saw me writing an important story that others needed and would be helped by. So of course I was intrigued but had no idea what I would write about, though I always loved writing. And really out of curiosity and to prove this stranger wrong, I sat down at my computer. Boom! It was all there. The names, faces, scents, scenery and characters were all so real and so vivid. I honestly fell in love with them and with writing about them. I was asked by my family, “What is happening in your office at night? Who are you talking to? Who’s Philip?!” It really was quite an experience. I sat down each night for 76 consecutive evenings because I wanted to see what happened next. I truly had no idea what was coming or how it would end. I just knew I had to write. Upon completion on that 76th evening, much to my surprise, I cried and cried and sobbed actually. I felt as though I was saying good-bye to family and on many levels I feel that is exactly what happened.
And on July 11, 2016 I invite readers to take the same journey I did alongside Piper and see what all the buzz is about. This book changes people as I’ve been told. And yes, I did contact that woman who told me years ago to sit and write. She is equally excited!
