Interview – Sharon CassanoLochman

When did you start writing, what moved you to start writing?

I was quickly approaching the age of 60 when I decided to make a dramatic change in my life and become a writer. Think of it as Divine intervention—for which I am eternally grateful.

– Tell us about your books. Why should everyone buy them?

I write fiction for adults, children, and spiritually minded individuals. Whether it is action and adventure, pulp noir fiction, or uplifting stories—my books are for all family members.

– What is your all time favorite novel/book? What makes it special?

My all-time favorite novel is The Grapes of Wrath because it was the first time I could taste and smell the sensory details.

– Tell us a bit about your writing process.

I write every day. I have dozens of projects in various stages, all going on simultaneously. This work strategy allows for optimum workflow given the time of day. For example, revisions are done in the afternoon, and my creative writing flows best first thing in the morning.

– What author would you love to have dinner with?

I would love to have dinner with John Steinbeck to discuss his writing strategies and travels across the United States.

– Tell us about your hobbies and passions other than writing.

I love nature and make it a habit to spend time outdoors daily regardless of the weather.

– We have many followers who would like to start writing a book or are already writing their first book, any advice for these brave people?

I would suggest they contact me about my free writing webinar or for more information regarding my writing programs.

– What are you reading at the moment?

I am currently reading Song of the Pearl.

– How is it to be an author in your country? Do you have good support from the local public?

I think it can be challenging to be an author in any country. Finding a balance between the art of writing and the act of book promotion proves to be at times daunting.

– Certainly you have had some interesting episodes as an author, fans related or others, share one of them with us.

I wrote Man with the Sand Dollar Face in less than twenty-four hours. The book came through in its entirety centered around New Orleans with a hint of the 40s. But I was shocked upon my visit to the historical city after the book was completed, that the resounding sights and sounds in my story rang true and almost felt like they were from another life experience.
