Interview

– When did you start writing novels/books, what moved you to start writing?

I started writing at an early age. Probably as young as Grade School. My main motivations came from books like ‘Scary Stories To Tell in the Dark’ and ‘Goosebumps’. I also found influence through movies, TV shows and video games.

– In what genres do you write? Do you plan writing in other genres?

Mainly horror. I have considered to write comedy, drama and crime (film noir style).

– Tell us about your novels. Why should everyone buy them?

If you enjoy thinking outside of the envelope when it comes to horror stories, or just looking for something unique.

– What is your all time favorite novel/book? What makes it special?

‘Goosebumps’. That’s the one that really got me into horror. I even got a good luck Twitter response from the author R.L. Stine!

– Tell us a bit about your writing process.

I wake up at 5:15 in the morning. Take a shower. Exercise. Make some scrambled eggs and bacon. Of course coffee. Turn on some jazz. Start writing while posting on social media.

– What author would you love to have dinner with?

C.S. Lewis.

– Tell us about your hobbies and passions other than writing.

Video games, TV and movie watching, dancing, hanging out, drawing.

– We have many followers who would like to start writing a book or are already writing their first novel, any advice for these brave people?

Don’t stop writing. Never give up on yourself. And never attempt to achieve a goal by yourself.

– How often do you write, daily, every other day or?

Anywhere from 1-5 hours a day.

– Do you keep a notebook with ideas for your novels? If so do you carry the notebook with you so you won’t forget any ideas?

I have a good number of files on my iPad with all my writing and concept art. Have to have cheat sheets when it comes to formatting. The moment I come up with a story I have to write a synopsis.

– How important is it to have your facts right and are there any instances when you bend history to fit your story?

Horror is different from other genres. It can bend every which way. Historical context can easily be broken when telling a horror story. But it’s best to do your research on the topics to stay accurate.

– What are you reading at the moment?

Brushing up on literary history.

– How is it to be an author in your country? Do you have a good support from the local public?

I have great support in the US. My first help came from the UK and eventually found a group on Twitter (#HorrorFamily) that help to increase my audience around the globe.

– Certainly you have had some interesting episodes as an author, fans related or others, share one of them with us.

Probably the most interesting was the comment that I received from R.L. Stine on Twitter. Wishing me good luck with my writing. I also got a funny response from Lloyd Kaufman (director of ‘The Toxic Crusader’) and the actor who played Art the Clown (‘The Terrifier’).
