A Word from the Author
When I sailed my yacht ‘Greylag’ around the world I worried about pirate attacks and how to deal with them. My crew and I spent long hours discussing the various possibilities. Poto Paddu is a small cove in Sumbawa, Indonesia and is the setting for my story which is my ideaimagined nightmare coming true. In places the book is inevitably violent and cruel, but I have tried to give it some softer tones by incorporating a love affair and by turning convention on its head and exploring the dramas and difficulties that would arise if the main protagonists were two women.
