A Word from the Author
I would first say to anyone picking this up to exercise caution. Several tales are heavy with suspense while others bleed gore from every pore. The entire collection is a summary of my writing styles and patterns that I’ve grown over a lifetime of creative writing. Each work has its own meaning and subtext, and I wrote them all while I was coming to terms with my mental illnesses. I think that is why it’s so special to me, and why I want people to read it.
The inspiration for most of the stories, besides my own madness, was my wife. She is a wonderful woman who I would often, when bored, turn to and merely ask “Name a monster and a theme.” The ensuing replies would often be so strange and exotic that I created stories too wild to believe. At her advisement, I kept several of the darker stories from entering this work, as she said they wouldn’t “mesh” well with what I present. I think she just wants me to save them for a rainy day when I eventually make another anthology, but I digress… my number one selling point for this compilation is that I wrote it while I was afraid. And who better to write horror than the horrified?
