When the handsome and confident Kaleb moves into town, he offers Alexia a welcome distraction from the Trials, but a dark secret could soon tear them apart.
In the trials arena, friendships will be put to the test, fears will be confronted head-on, and powerful spells will be unleashed. When Alexia is confronted with the ultimate game of chance, and is torn between her first real love and the allegiance that binds her to her coven, will she buckle under the weight of the pressure … or will she rise to the challenge?
A Word from the Author
Rise is unlike anything else I’ve written before. As a poet and flash-fiction writer, I had to reach deep into my creative psyche to create the world that resides within the context of my debut young adult novel. When I first began this journey, I knew I wanted to create a story that read and felt differently from what is currently on the market, and I experimented with different points of views before finally settling on the first person narrative. By doing so, I hope I’ve created a three-dimensional character that readers can both identify with and root for, and that can’t help but tag along on Alexia’s journey alongside her. Here’s a brief synopsis of the novel:

In Rise, the first of the Trifecta trilogy, magic gets real. As Alexia trains with her mentor on spells and combat-oriented magic, she pushes her abilities to their absolute limit. With the power to call up wind, fire and water, her magic is as deadly as it is beautiful. Add to the mix her creative blending of different spells to create new magic, and the boundaries break wide open.
As the three witch covens battle for control, the vampires take advantage of their weakened front. Facing an all-out war, she is torn between her first real love and the allegiance that binds her to the Alerium coven. She must rise to the challenge in order to save everything she holds dear.
