A Word from the Author
Back in Europe again Richard begins to rebuild his mercenary force. Some of his men are followers we met in A Queen’s Spy, and many are new. Added to this a powder expert he extracts from Antwerp and some loyal servants from his past. He is set to sell the Knights of St John the arms shipment and a knowledge of powder and musket ball production which will massively improve their military might.
There is unfortunately a spy in the camp, a man who would take Richard’s place, someone who believes that Richard is responsible for his fall from grace. Slowly a series of events tear the brother’s apart again and it will remain to be seen whether the rift will ever heal.
