The second book in the series witnesses the brother’s attempt to make their peace with each other. Jack foolishly involves himself his estranged family with disaterous results, and Catherine and Richard are attempt to save him from himself.
The backdrop is a consipiracy to abduct Elizabeth and take her to Holland and there to set up her up as Queen in waiting by her Protestant supporters. All of this is based on historical fact. Elizabeth has no wish to leave England and Richard Fitzwarren is there to lend his support and foil the plot.
Towards the end of the book as part of his own escape he becomes aware of a lost arms shipment, the location of which has been lost. With a buyer in mind he sets his sights towards Malta.
