A Word from the Author

This is a book that I had no intention of writing. I only planned on writing Guinevere: On the Eve of Legend before moving on to other stories. In fact, I wrote three books between Eve of Legend and At the Dawn of Legend! In those intervening years (2009-2016), a strange thing happened. I kept hearing voices. I knew I wasn’t crazy, at least not yet! I ignored those voices for a long time. When I did start to listen, I heard Cedwyn and Guinevere. They were asking me to write another book about them. I told them no, repeatedly. One book was all I’d planned to write. Like many kids who don’t get the answer they want, these two just kept bugging me. Cedwyn’s argument: ‘You promised that I would get to be a knight.’ Guinevere’s argument: ‘You can’t just leave me without any closure.’ Eventually, they wore me down. I wrote Guinevere: At the Dawn of Legend. And, to my surprise, it would require one more book to finish Guinevere and Cedwyn’s stories.
