Bio
I have had a passion for bees long before I knew of their role in the ecosystem. As I learned more about them, I kept my own hive in the backyard. In fact, my bee pets are what inspired me to start writing Tillsonbugger Adventures.
One spring day my bees swarmed to the neighbour’s tree, and understandably, she was frightened. Her solution was to burn the branch on which they swarmed. Luckily, they swarmed to their forever home a few hours later, but this incident was the impetus for my first book, “The Swarm that Swarmed”. My goal was to write a book that would entertain children through illustrations and relatable characters, but the message would be understood by adults who would read to their young ones.
I found a wonderful artist, Qi Zhan, who interprets the stories using water colours.
And my boyfriend (can you say “boyfriend” after 40?) is a poet, so I asked him to write the introductory poems for each book.
Book two, “The Case of the Missing Moustache”, is now available, featuring a new bug and new adventures for the three main characters. I am in the process of finishing the third manuscript, “The Alien in the Apple Tree”, but it won’t be available until 2020/21.
