Know More

‘Leaf’ is the first collection of poetry published by Joanne Van Leerdam. Often metaphorical and always unashamedly honest, these poems are expressions of her own experiences and observations about life and human nature.

A Word from the Author

author-joanne-van-leerdam-picture‘Leaf’ is my first published collection of my poetry. I’ve been writing poetry for as long as I can remember, but there’s no way I could have written these poems ten years ago. It’s not just a matter of life experience – it’s about being broken enough and brave enough to let the words flow.
When I write, it’s always an idea or feeling that moves me. I can’t just say “Oh, today I’ll write a poem about cats” and write something that satisfies me. At the same time, my poetry is always honest about how I’m feeling or thinking. Some of the poems in ‘Leaf’ are quite dark, others brooding, and others much more positive and confident in tone. I like to think I’ve touched on the full gamut of human feeling in the poems here.
I trust that you will find something in ‘Leaf’ that will speak to you, or touch your soul somehow.
