War is coming…

The ink has dried on Amandine’s death warrant. Her crime? She is a du Lac.

All that stands in the way of a grisly death on a pyre is the King of Brittany. However, King Philippe is a fickle friend, and if her death is profitable to him, then she has no doubt that he would light the pyre himself.

Alan, the only man Amandine trusts, has a secret and must make an impossible choice, which could have far-reaching consequences — not only for Amandine, but for the whole of Briton.

A Word from the Author

Author Mary Anne YardeAs a child, I adored the legends of King Arthur and his Knights. I grew up near Glastonbury, England, where the story of King Arthur is woven into the very land itself. Many times I have witnessed Glastonbury Tor rise from the Fata Morgana — the mist — and every time I see it I am enthralled. It is so easy to believe the stories of Arthur when set against such a backdrop.

After Arthur’s tragic death the story comes to a sudden halt. No more is heard of Arthur’s famous knights, and all we are left with is a whispered promise, that when Briton is in peril, Arthur and his Knights will ride again.

Let me take you on a journey back to 6th Century Briton and together we can go on an adventure to find those Knights.

The Knights Code of Chivalry, which High King Arthur and Lancelot du Lac wrote, has been thrown on the rubbish heap. It is every man for himself. But amongst the chaos, there is one woman who refuses to bow down to tyrants. Lady Amandine du Lac was mistakenly left behind by her kin during the uprising against King Budic du Lac. Now she faces a life of scorn and ridicule because she so happened to be on the losing side. But Amandine has an inner strength that even she was unaware of. No matter what they do to her, no matter what they say, she will remain loyal to her kin and to the man she loved with her whole heart.

From the author who brought us The Du Lac Chronicles…

When the devil wanted to destroy the world he would do so with fire. Alden du Lac knew this for a fact, because the devil had come to Cerniw.

Alden may have driven the man who tortured him from his lands, but he can do nothing to drive him from his dreams.

Alden has become bitter, angry and unrecognizable to those who love him. The only person whom could possible bring him back from the brink is his younger brother Merton. But even Merton is at a loss as to what to do.

As Alden seemingly wars with himself, there is a new threat to the kingdom. A threat that nobody foresaw, or could have possibly predicted…

The adventure continues in this beautiful novella.

A Word from the Author

Author Mary Anne YardeMy novella, The Pitchfork Rebellion, is set in the year 496 AD in Cerniw (Cornwall) and is part of a series called The Du Lac Chronicles. The Du Lac Chronicles is an Arthurian, historical fantasy series, which has been compared by reviewers to George R. R. Martin’s, Game Of Thrones.

Why did I choose Cornwall as my setting? Cornwall has a long association with Arthurian folklore. It was the kingdom of King Mark — the cuckolded king in the legend of Tristan and Iseult, and thanks to the work of Geoffrey of Monmouth, Tintagel Castle, in Cornwall, became the birthplace of King Arthur.

Alden du Lac, son of Lancelot, is King of Cerniw in the novel, The Pitchfork Rebellion, but Alden’s subjects are not happy with their new Queen. Annis is a Saxon, a foreigner, the daughter of their greatest enemy and she is not to be trusted. Alden is faced with an impossible choice, should he forsake his wife, and keep his crown? Or, should he stand down as King and let his brother rule in his place? Only time will tell…

A Word from the Author

Author Mary Anne YardeFor well over a thousand years we have been enchanted with the tales of King Arthur and his knights. Arthur’s story has everything – loyalty, betrayal, love, hate, war and peace, and like all good stories, there isn’t a happy ending for our hero. Arthur is betrayed by his best friend, Lancelot, and then he is betrayed once again by his nephew, Mordred. Arthur’s reign comes to a dramatic and tragic end on the battlefield at Camlann.

When Arthur died, the knights died with him. Without their leader they were nothing, and they disappeared from history. No more is said of them, and I always wondered why not. Just because Arthur is dead, that doesn’t mean that his knights didn’t carry on living. Their story must continue — if only someone would tell it!

War is coming…

The Du Lac Devil follows the fortunes and misfortunes of Lancelot du Lac’s sons — Budic, Alden and Merton — as they try to forge a life for themselves in an ever-changing Saxon world.

Unfortunately, there is a problem. It is imperative that the sons of Lancelot remain united at all times, for only then are they unconquerable. However, if it were known that there was a quarrel between the brothers, then that would change everything. As the brothers continue to argue, their enemies plot against them. War is coming, and only one man has the power to stop it —the youngest son of Lancelot — Merton du Lac. But, Merton loyalty is questionable. Will he stand with his brothers in their hour of need? Or will he forsake them and follow his own interests? The fate of Briton depends on his decision.
