A Word from the Author

The idea for this book was born in battle. I’d already written the earlier stand alone novels Armies of the Silver Mage and the Dragon Hunters during consecutive deployments to Afghanistan (02-03) and Iraq (05-06) but I wanted more. One night, while sitting in my apartment after a long day’s work at the United States Military Academy, an idea came to me. What followed was unexpected but a joy to write. Since first published in 2013, this book has been the overall #1 free book on Kindle 4 times.
