A GRIPPING PSYCHOLOGICAL THRILLER FOR FANS OF KING AND KOONTZ!

“RIVETING”–Kirkus Reviews

What price would you pay for success?

Witnessing a lightning bolt on a sunny day, author Alexa Wainwright doesn’t realize she’s been transported to an alternate universe. Here, she meets media mogul, publisher, and possibly the devil himself, King Blakemore who offers her a lucrative book contract that will guarantee her comeback.

Suddenly, the contract’s been signed. Now what can she do?

Desperate to get her life back, Alexa devises schemes to untether herself from this hellish existence.

Buy this book if you’re a reader who loves a page-turning, heart-stopping, psychological thriller with some magical realism thrown in.

A Word from the Author

The inspiration for When a Stranger Comes…was haphazard. I had started a different book but wasn’t feeling it. As a self-published author, who would much rather be traditionally published, I have to keep consciously staying positive. Sure, my work has won awards, of which I am proud, but I haven’t achieved the traction in sales for which I had hoped. Because I mostly use the first person in my writing, and thus become my MC, I thought it might be fun to pretend what it would feel like to be a very successful author. All the money and acclaim, the greed factor. But as soon as that scenario popped into my head another one edged its way in as well. The fear of losing that status and wealth. Becoming a mid-list author whose critics keep the fall from grace alive with unflattering comparisons to the debut’s success. Bingo! The premise for this work took hold. But as I wrote, I expanded the concept of greed from my MC to modern society’s abuse and savage treatment of our home, our planet. Why would humans be so willing to destroy our own habitat? It all comes down to greed on a macro scale. Greed is the engine for our downfall both individually and globally. Naturally, the impetus for greed is pure evil, and who is more evil than the Devil himself? I am in the process of creating the audible book. Great fun but a lot work.
