A Word from the Author
Having a journalistic background and a love of writing, I was from the outset keen to write about my father’s family and their migration journey as a family project. However, the more I researched, the more I became aware that my grandparents were part of an interesting and little-known part of history that would lend itself well to a fascinating story. Inspired by my grandparents and all I was reading about north-east Italy and its battle with Yugoslavia at the end of World War II, I began to carve out a fiction novel, aptly named, Port of No Return.
