Know More
Escaping war-torn Europe, Ettore and Contessa arrive with their children, hoping for a fresh start. They arrive holding the hands of their loved ones and not much else. Follow their son Martino as he faces 1950s’ racism and devastating setbacks, while never giving up on an impossible dream.
A Word from the Author
Wanderers No More is a migrant-based story, which captures Australia at its best and worst during the 1950s. It highlights the importance of work, education and sport in helping Italian migrants settle and find acceptance. The highs were inspired by true national victories achieved in soccer by my father and uncle as coaches. However, there is a low point, based on a real family tragedy which made the six o’clock news at the time. Sad as it is, I hope the book leaves readers feeling inspired by people’s ability to succeed against the odds. A sequel to Port of No Return, it can be read as a standalone novel.
