THE CHAMPION follows the adventures of En Pascal of Valencia, a Spanish mercenary who carves a path through the war-torn kingdoms of 13th century Europe. From the refuge of old age, he tells the tale of his bloody and turbulent life:

BLOOD AND GOLD continues the story. It is October 1297. The rival kings of England and France have agreed to a truce, but elsewhere the war still rages. In Scotland, a mysterious warrior named William Wallace has raised his head, and driven the armies of Edward Longshanks from Scottish soil. On the continent, the Holy Roman Emperor marches to confront his enemy, the Duke of Austria.
Our hero, En Pascal, describes his role in these bloody conflicts. Fresh from his deeds in Flanders and Aquitaine, he is now a trusted servant of the English king. As soldier, spy and assassin, he relies on his wits and his sword to survive.
THE CHAMPION series is inspired by the true-life career of En Pascal of Valencia, a knight of Aragon in the service of King Edward I, known as Longshanks or the Hammer of the Scots.
