When did you start writing novels, what moved you to start writing?

One year ago.

The antagonist, Tracker, began ‘speaking’ through me to the printed page!

In what genres do you write? Do you plan writing in other genres?

Non-fiction and fiction

Tell us about your novels. Why should everyone buy them?

Environmentalists have said for years that overpopulation is a problem. Read this book to understand how it might be addressed!

What is your all time favorite novel/book? What makes it special?

The Heart of Darkness.

Evil is more pervasive and more of a deeply ingrained aspect of mankind than we may want to admit.

Tell us a bit about your writing process.

Three hours each evening and 4-5 hours on Sunday in isolation.

What author would you love to have dinner with?

Alan Furst

Tell us about your hobbies and passions other than writing.

I am an adventure traveler: I have crossed several oceans by yacht, deserts by truck and camel and foot and mountains by trail.

We have many followers who would like to start writing a book or are already writing their first novel, any advice for these brave people?

Persistence is the master stroke of success!

How often do you write, daily, every other day or?

See above

Do you keep a notebook with ideas for your novels? If so do you carry the notebook with you so you won’t forget any ideas?

Yes, on the computer. At any one time there are at least half a dozen works in progress!

How important is it to have your facts right and are there any instances when you bend history to fit your story?

Very important for non-fiction; less so for fiction. Yes, I changed the biological threat mechanisms for the book – so no one could figure out how to do what Tracker does!

What are you reading at the moment?

Time Song by Julia Blackburn

How is it to be an author in your country? Do you have a good support from the local public?

Never paid much attention to this.

However, when I wrote Fracking, America’s Renewable Energy Revolution, I gave talks across the country. In CA & WA, the resistance was palpable and dangerous. Not at all anywhere else.

Certainly you have had some interesting episodes as an author, fans related or others, share one of them with us.

Visiting the biannual CDC infectious diseases conference, I was confronted face to face with the men and women who give their time and expertise and lives to prevent what I wrote about. It was very humbling!

A final message for our circleofbooks.com readers.

Make writing a daily part of your life, a routine like exercise, eating or sleeping!
