Being trusted by a Caesar makes him an enemy of the Roman who crucified Jesus Christ, and puts him under threat from Rome itself… Rome 30 AD. A Senator is plunged into the dark heart of the Roman Empire, sent to investigate the corrupt practices of Pontius Pilate in Jerusalem by Caesar Tiberius. In this tense historical thriller can Senator Vivius Marcianus outmanoeuvre charges of treason, devastating secrets resurfaced from his own troubled past, and the political snake pit of Rome to save himself and the woman he loves?

A Word from the Author

  • My first writing venture was as a ghost writer. I wrote three Christian novels in this genre. During that time. My husband, Colin and I relaxed by visiting the Roman Wall in the lovely Northumberland countryside close to where we live. That was how I developed my interest in the Romans. Although, to be honest, it really began on those drab, cold, rainy days when I questioned why on earth the Romans would choose to leave the balmy heat of Italy for this? ‘Brrr!’

Curious, I visited Italy and was instantly captivated by the vivid sights, sounds and smells of Rome, and was intrigued by the dangerously political atmosphere in the cities of Rome and Jerusalem during the era of the Caesars.

So began the first in a trilogy of historical thrillers. ‘The Senator’s Assignment’ takes place in Rome and Jerusalem, and I thoroughly enjoyed bringing to life the fictional and historical characters of that era.

The second book, ‘The Senator’s Darkest Days, was launched on the day of lockdown for Covid-19: 23rd March.
